Master Pumps & Equipment
Corporation was established in Odessa, Texas in 1968. They were
previously a service related business providing oil field mechanics
on 24 hour call to repair engines, compressors and pumps in the
oilfield. In 1972 the Company acquired the assets of a small
distribution company located at the present site of the Odessa
branch. As a pump distributor serving the Permian Basin, the
emphasis now turned to customer service and stocking inventory to
provide the customer with the right product with consistent on time
quality performance.
Due to the success of the company,it
expanded it's facilities in 1975 to include Hobbs, New Mexico.
Likewise, stores were added in Abilene, Texas and Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma due to expanding oil demand, resulting in the oil boom of
the seventies. However, in 1982 the entire oil economy changed. With
a reversal of the boom of the seventies, and the downturn through
the remainder of the eighties, many companies were left in
bankruptcy and subject to closure. Master Pumps recognized this
downturn and took aggressive measures to counteract their declining
oilfield sales by opening new branches to the east. In 1983 they
opened the Shreveport, Louisiana branch, and then the Houston branch
in 1984. Other branches were soon opened in Dallas, Texas; Longview,
Texas; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Corpus Christi, Texas and New Orleans,
Louisiana. The focus was to convert the company into becoming an
industrial supplier rather than being totally dependent upon the oil
industry.
Currently we have grown into fourteen
stocking stores with sales offices in five states in the Southwest
that represents many major product lines on an exclusive basis
throughout the Southwest. Our sales are comprised of approximately
60% industrial and 40% oilfield business. In November of 1993, our
Company was successful in putting together a sale to a group of
employees that had a desire to make the company an employee owned
and operated business.
At the present time our Company
continues to broaden it's horizons through an association with
selected vendors and related products throughout our industry. Our
partnership with our manufacturers allow us the benefit to challenge
those who wish to apply themselves and contribute in a united effort
to become the best pump distributor in the
Southwest. |
