MOTOR VEHICLES AND MECHANIZED
EQUIPMENT
1. Do not operate any equipment unless
qualified to do so.
2. Before operating a vehicle, or other
similar equipment, check all lights, brakes, windshield wipers,
steering, back-up alarms if required, fifth wheels, air brake
connections, etc., before operating that day.
3. When driving this equipment buckle
and use the seatbelt. Drive a lift truck at a reasonable speed 5 MPH
limit. (In shop, no faster than a fast walk).
4. Make certain that any load that is
being transported is properly secured. Exercise care when moving
loads, especially when turning corners. Do not use broken pallets,
flats or boxes.
5. Make sure any parked equipment is
properly braked, locked, and that the ignition keys have been
removed from teh vehicle.
6. Walk around the vehicle before
moving it, to make sure that no damaged exists and that there are no
obstacles to prevent movement.
7. Do not transport other employees
unless the vehicle is designed to do so.
8. At night, lights, reflectors or
barricades should be positioned to warn approaching motorists of
equipment parked near a roadway or work area.
9. Do not attach a spinner or steering
knob on the steering wheel.
10. Do not inflate, mount or dismount
wheels with split rims or lock rings unles protected by a safety
cage.
11. Before working on air or hydraulic
systems, make sure they are properly bled.
12. No excavation should be performed
until it has first been determined that there are no underground
utilities in the area to be excavated.
13. Operators of plant vehicles must
never back up without full knowledge of who or what is behind them.
Operators of plant vehicles should, whenever possible, drive with
load in front of them.
14. Never smoke or bring open flame
near the battery of an electric truck, due to danger of explosion.
Never lay a tool or pieces of metal across the
battery. |
