VEHICLE
INSPECTION:
Each operator of a company vehicle
should inspect their vehicle at the beginning of the day. The
inspection shoudl be oriented towards safety and should include all
safety related equipment on the vehicle. Any vehicle defects that
are found should be reported to the BRanch Manager and fixed
immediately.
VEHICLE
MAINTENANCE:
All company vehicles should be properly
maintained per the manufacturers specifications and
recommendations.
ACCIDENT
INVESTIGATION:
After an accident has been investigated
and the cause determined, the supervisor will discuss the accident
with the employee. The supervisor will also discuss what steps the
employee can take to prevent a reoccurrence of the accident. It is
mandatory that an employee take a defensive driving course if the
employee has been involved in an accident in a company vehicle under
the following conditions: In the course of 12 months, if the fault
of the accident was our employee, whether or not the employee was
issued a citation, the employee must take the course. In the course
of 12 months, if the fault of the accident was not the employee,
then the course is not required unless another accident occurs
within those 12 months. These defensive driving courses will be paid
for by the employee.
PERSONAL VEHICLE
USE:
Before granting an employee permission
to use their personal vehicle for company business on a regular
basis, a MVR must be obtained and reviewed. If the employee has a
history of violations, permission to use a personal car for business
purposes may still be granted, depending upon the circumstances of
the violations and the time period involved. In any case, the
employee must be advised that this permission is granted subject to
their safe operation of a motor vehicle.
Employers who operate their own vehicle
on company business should be required to carry adequate limits of
collision liability insurance. The minimum limits of coverage should
be $500,000.00. When possible, the company should be a "Named
Insured" on teh vehicle owner's policy.
EMPLOYEES MUST USE THE
